Going Cruelty Free

Going cruelty free is something I have been doing for about 6 months now. Its a long process and you probably won’t be able to do it overnight, but thats okay! Every little change you make is a step in the right direction. Here is how I started my cruelty free journey, and how you can start yours.
The easiest thing to start changing over is makeup, there’s so many cruelty free makeup brands out there and so much information on who is and isn’t cruelty free. Start with one item at a time, use up your old ones if you want and replace as you go, I think I started with all my eye products first, so my eyeliner, mascara and eyeshadows. Then I moved onto my base and then my lips and finally my eyebrows. This whole process is trial and error, just like buying any other new product, so don’t feel overwhelmed. You’ll find cruelty free products that work for you eventually, just keep doing your research and be open to new options and alternatives.
The next thing I changed to cruelty free was my skin routine, so all my cleansers, makeup removers, moisturisers etc. Again, one at a time when they ran out I would replace them with a cruelty free product I had researched and decided I wanted to try, then hope for the best! I then swapped over my shower products, so all my body washes & (my shampoo was already cf).
I’m currently in the process of swapping over my deodorant, I actually purchased a Faith In Nature one today and I’m so excited to try it out! I’m also on the path to finding a cruelty free fragrance that I like, I bought some testers from an etsy shop that sells cruelty free/organic etc fragrances but unfortunately I’m not too keen on them, so i’ll keep looking.
What i’m trying to get across is that going cruelty free isn’t a small change, it’s a lifestyle adjustment. After swapping over all my cosmetics etc, I’m going to swap over all my household items such as toothpaste, cleaning products and washing up liquid. Sometimes it will be difficult to get hold of cruelty free alternatives, but the best thing you can do is keep trying, do your research, read reviews and make the change. Just remember that every little bit you do will help, sometimes you will have to use medicine etc that is tested on animals but thats okay, your body is important as well.
Do your best and that’s all that can be asked of you.
